Avon Interfaith Council was founded in the early 1980s with one goal in mind–feeding the hungry in our community. It didn’t matter that the founding member churches had different theologies and practices. All that mattered was our shared belief that feeding hungry people and making sure they have clothes on their back and a roof over their heads is an important part of our job as people of faith.
Today, Avon Interfaith exists to support the Avon community through volunteer service, fundraising and distribution, and organizational support. We administer the Avon Food Pantry and raise funds through projects like the Avon Walk for Hunger, and arranging food collection.
Avon Interfaith also supports other community organizations, both faith-based and secular, including the senior center, the nursing home, Stone’s Closet, and the Avon Free Library. We are proud of our community and pleased to our part in making sure that everyone in Avon has the opportunity to get what they need.
